How often do parents hear these words uttered from the back seat of their car when headed out on a family outing? I was always taught to be patient and continue to focus on the word games we liked to play to pass the time. I enjoyed looking out the window to watch the passing trees, cars and architectural oddities, hoping to drift off, only to waken upon arrival at our vacation spot.

With real estate now being my favorite game, it seems the mantra of be patient has also come into play. There are so many buyers and options available right now, but uncertainty seems to be the driving force in many of my clients’ decision-making processes right now. This causes many people to take a wait-and-see stance while the economy works though its’ current woes.

Many potential home buyers are probably getting a bit tired of hearing their agents tell them what a great time it is to buy. But I saw an interesting article in the Wall Street Journal today discussing how we might actually be there yet!

While this is certainly a measured evaluation of where we stand today, the article makes a rather compelling argument about why now is indeed a good time to be buying. This is not a blanket statement, but there are some deals available right now, so with a bit of research and the willingness to take on some risk, this may indeed be a great buying opportunity.

I have noticed that buyer activity is very strong and many people want to buy, but are still scared to pull the trigger. When quality, well priced properties come on the market, they are selling very quickly, sometimes with multiple offers. So the log-jam is starting to break. The question then is: Are you there yet?
