What comes to mind when you think about Duboce Park, and the Duboce Triangle neighborhood? I think of dogs, bicycles, kids, walkers, joggers, cafes, Victorians, easy public transportation, and the vibrant energy that flows through the neighborhood. Duboce Park, although technically located in Hayes Valley on the San Francisco Association of Realtors Map (Area 6B), is the neighborhood meeting spot for the Duboce Triangle neighborhood. The park has a basketball court, a children’s playground, a dog running area and the Harvey Milk Center for Recreational Arts where there are classes and activities for all ages.

Walking around the Duboce Park is a visual treat. There is a combination of beautifully restored Victorians, and clearly rent controlled buildings that have not seen a drop of paint in decades. This San Francisco neighborhood has a unique character blending the old, new and just about everything in-between.

I am not the only one who feels this way because the Historic Preservation Committee is considering making a four block in the area a Historic Landmark

Duboce Triangle, adjacent to Hayes Valley, is Area 5J on the Real Estate Map. The area is small, only 15 city blocks. Do not expect to find many homes, or condos for sale here. If you are patient you will find just the right home in Duboce Triangle. Once people move to the neighborhood they like it, and stay put.

Duboce Triangle and Hayes Valley, and their borders on the SFAR Real Estate Map, are a good example of how the natural flow of a neighborhood, and the Map, do not always follow the same path.  If you are interested in living near Duboce Park, and searching online you will need to search in both Duboce Triangle Area 5J, and Hayes Valley Area 6B.

In my mind this is a wonderful neighborhood for city living. Ok, I admit I feel this way about many San Francisco neighborhoods. Aren’t we lucky to have so many great areas to choose from?

There are many pluses to life around Duboce Park.

  • Public transportation is only minutes away in all directions
  • Great weather
  • Walk to the Dolores Park, the Mission, the Castro, NOPA, and the lower and upper Haight
  • Geographical center of San Francisco
  • Bike to anywhere around the city
  • Near Golden Gate Park
  • Easy access to freeways
  • Shops, restaurants and cafes

If you have a dog, kids, are interested in photography or other arts, or just like to relax in Duboce Park this is a neighborhood that is worth spending time investigating.
