Technology has created more of a grey area when it comes to REALTOR advertisements and disclosures. Tweets and text messages do not provide space for including pertinent brokerage affiliation mandated by law. So this year the NAR changed their Code of Ethics to allow for an exception for those limitations ONLY if there is a link in the online ad to the disclosures that should be included.
Pay attention to the title of “REALTOR” versus a “real estate licensee” when shopping for agents online. Be sure to look for the agent’s DRE license and brokerage affiliation before making a big mistake.
