Before selling real estate I worked as a Special Assistant to the Mayor. Many of my Facebook friends are still working for the city and keep me up to date on volunteer opportunities. Today on Facebook  a friend wrote a post on the Neighborhood Empowerment Network (NEN). NEN connects community organizations, city agencies, non-profit organizations and academic institutions. The web site is a wealth of information.

I am especially interested in community gardens. As I walk around the city I have noticed small patches of city land evolving into beautiful community gardens. Reading through the NEN web site I found an article about the Community Garden Program: Want to Produce Food on Public Land? Dig In…

If you would like to get involved there is a free workshop open to the public including lunch and a free gift.  All ages are welcome.
